Julianne Eva Leegard, 21, St. Mary's, GA, formerly of Grand Forks, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 in St. Mary's, Georgia. She began her life on February 17, 1991 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter James and Barbara (Thomas) Skipton. She attended W.E.E. school in Papillion, Nebraska. She then moved to Grand Forks with her mother in 1996. She then attended Windship, Ben Franklin, and Wilder elementary schools. In 2003, she became Julianne Schauer when she was adopted by William Schauer the husband of Barbara. Julie then went to Valley Middle School and then on to Central High School graduating in 2009. She was active in band, choir, as well as bowling league. She met her husband Kris in 2008 while in high school. They were blessed with the birth of their son Alex, who was born April 11, 2010 .They married on May 25th, 2010 in Grand Forks. She moved with Kris to Groton, Connecticut on December 23, 2010 to begin their Navy life. They stayed in Connecticut until September 2011, when they moved to King's Bay Naval Base in St. Mary's Georgia for Kris's first assignment on the USS Wyoming. While in high school, she worked at Super One Foods, Hugo's, Little Caesars, and Subway. Recently she began working at Subway on King's Bay Naval Base, making even more friends in her new home. Julianne was very proud of being part of the Wyoming Blue FRG family, attending online classes; raising Alex and helping him grow. She liked to keep in contact with her family and friends from around the country on Facebook especially sharing Alex's progress and milestones and she loved the color purple. Julie loved the group activities and the fellowship that came with being a navy wife and felt that she was part of a larger family. Julianne is survived by her husband and life partner Kristofer, son Alex, both of St. Mary's GA, parents, William and Barbara Schauer, Grand Forks, James Skipton, Papillion, NE, mother-in-law Becky Leegard, Mike Benson, Grand Forks, Father-in-law, David Leegard, Grand Forks, brothers; Randall, Bradley, and Michael Schauer, Grand Forks, step sister, Jessica (John) Waterman, Moore, Ok, brother-in-law, Justin Leegard, Grand Forks, grandmothers, Janice (Joe) Sylvester, Papillion, NE, Helen Schauer, Grand Forks, many aunts, uncles, and cousins and her cats Kit, Flo, and dog Bella. She is preceded in death by grandfathers James Skipton Sr., George Thomas, grandmother Ruth Curry, and uncle Edward Schauer. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Amundson Funeral Home Visitation will be held Friday, November 23, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. in Amundson Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
