Ervin August Behsman, 86,Grand Forks, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Woodside Village in 4000 Valley Square. Ervin was born April 5, 1926 in Meriden Township, Minnesota, the son of August and Wilhelmina (Wilker) Behsman. He graduated from Owatonna High School in Owatonna, Minnesota. He served in the Army Air Force for a time during WWII and was honorably discharged. He married Lorna Horswell on August 16, 1947 in Owatonna, Minnesota. Ervin attended college at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and earned his Bachelor's degree in science. He taught high school science in Painesville, Minnesota, Berthold, North Dakota, Hancock, Minnesota, and Warren, Minnesota. Ervin received a Masters degree from the University of North Dakota in science education and a PHD from the University of North Dakota in education. He taught in the Center of Teaching and Learning at the University of North Dakota for 27 years before retiring. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, UND sports, traveling, and reading. He is survived by his children: Mark (Margot) Behsman, Jean (Steve) Weninger, Craig (Pam) Behsman, Karla (Gus) Gleason, Kim (Tom) Cariveau, Dawn (Matt) Huth; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Millie Behsman. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, 3 brothers, 1 sister and his wife, Lorna. Memorial Service will be Monday, December 3, 2012 at 2 PM in the Havig-Heen Auditorium at 4000 Valley Square. The family requests that memorials in Ervin's honor be given to Woodside Village at 4000 Valley Square.
