Betty Lou Ulvedal

Betty Lou Ulvedal, 88, Salida, Colorado passed peacefully Thursday, November 29, 2012 surrounded by her family at Denver Hospice, Denver, CO. Services will be held at 10:30am Friday, Dec.7, University Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND. Burial will be at the Grand Forks Memorial Park North Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Thursday, Dec. 6 at Amundson Funeral Home, where a prayer service will begin at 6:30pm. Betty was born April 14, 1924 in International Falls, Minnesota the daughter of Joseph D. and Laura (Hemly) Bushaw. Her elementary school and high school education was in Manvel, ND. Her husband of 52 years (until his death in 1995) was A.L. Bud' Ulvedal. They made their home in Grand Forks where Betty was active in the University Lutheran Church becoming a Stephens Minister and singing in the choir. Her other interests were Thursday Music Club, Myra Museum, American Legion Auxiliary, Grand Forks Curling Club, Republican Women, and all activities her children and grandchildren participated in over the years. For the last few years Betty has been residing at Columbine Care Center, Salida, Co, and is leaving many good friends and wonderful memories. Betty is survived by one sister Patricia Westgard, Grand Forks; two sisters-in-law Lorraine Bushaw, Grand Forks and Vivian Bye, Seattle, WA; one brother-in-law Gordon Caldis, Grand Forks; four daughters, Diane Nerheim, San Francisco, CA, Sheryl (Rick) Camp, Bonita Springs, FL, Renae (Terry) Orstad, Bismarck, ND, and Carmen (Greg) Johnson, Fairplay, CO.; seven grandchildren Alyson (David) Leighton, Grand Forks, ND, Mitch (Jamie) Orstad, Bismarck, ND, Beth (Marty) Craig, Breckenridge, CO, Josh Johnson, Denver, CO, Sadie Johnson, Los Angeles, CA , Cassandra Camp, Bonita Springs, FL, Adam (Kera) Camp, Las Vegas, NV; and seven great grandchildren, Kade and Andrew Orstad; Noelle, Gabriel, and Stella Leighton; Chase Roderick and Christine Wu. She was preceded in death by husband A.L. Bud' Ulvedal; two sons Roger Ulvedal and Ross Ulvedal; parents, Joseph and Laura Bushaw; two brothers Robert Bushaw and Richard Bushaw; and five sisters-in-law, Marlys Bushaw, Mildred Ulvedal, Beulah Nelson, Lenore Caldis, Evelyn Erickson; one brother-in-law Lincoln Ulvedal.
