Bud Christianson

Vernon "Bud" Christianson, 83, Dilworth, MN died Friday, December 21, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. Vern was born August 25, 1929 at Milton, North Dakota to Helmer and Mabel Christianson. He grew up on a farm near Vang, North Dakota and attended country schools in the area. He helped on the family farm until entering the Armed Services in June, 1953. He was honorably discharged in May, 1955. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Peterson in Fargo, ND on November 27, 1957.. He managed GTA grain elevators for 18 years in the towns of Hesper, and Maddock, ND, Florence, SD and Erskine, MN. In 1976 he was employed by American Crystal Sugar Company, Crookston, MN where he worked for 15 years before retiring. Always longing to farm, he started helping out during the busy seasons at Swenson Seed Farm, Oklee, MN. He worked there until the age of 80. In 2010 they moved to an apartment in Dilworth, MN. He made numerous trips to Seattle and Poulsbo, WA. Visiting with relatives and friends. He was always ready for conversation with anyone willing to visit. Survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Kay (Wayne) Schell, Baudette, MN and Joy(Scott) Schell, Lisbon, ND sons Randy (Kim) Christianson, Buchanan, ND and Joel, Morgan, MN. Seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild. Sisters, Phyllis Danielson, Dilworth, MN, Joyce Townsend and Kathi Nelson, Poulsbo, WA, Beverly Peterson, Walhalla, ND and Janice Metzger, Burnsville, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helmer and Mabel Christianson, brothers-in-law Merle Danielson, Dan Townsend and Bob Peterson. The family requests tributes to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Fargo, ND. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 27, 2012 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM with a 7:30 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks.
