Marilyn Ann Landa

Marilyn A. Landa, 82, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died Sunday, January 6, 2013 in Valley Memorial Homes Transitional Care Unit. Marilyn Ann Murphy was born to William and Faye (Cameron) Murphy on December 19, 1930 in Grand Forks. She attended school in Grand Forks and Minto, North Dakota, and Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Grafton High School. She graduated from teacher's training at Valley City State College. Marilyn taught in a multi class country school for a brief time. Marilyn and Sanford Landa were united in marriage on July 24, 1959 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Marilyn was a lifelong avid reader which she has instilled in several of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with family. Marilyn enjoyed meeting people and getting to know them. She enjoyed volunteer work though school, church and the library. She also managed the books for the family owned business. Marilyn is survived by her four children, Mark Landa, Grand Forks; Jon (Lori) Landa, and their children, Kelcy Landa and Kaden Landa, Grand Forks, Scott (Danean) Landa and their children, Sam Landa and Murphy Landa, Thompson, ND, Jodi (Jay) Tescher and their children, Jacob Tescher, Brenna Tescher, and Callie Tescher, Warren, MN; a sister, Claire (Darrell) Julson, Grand Forks; several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She is preceded in death by her husband Sanford, and her parents. Funeral Services: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service Wednesday, January 9, 2013 and for one hour prior to the service, all in the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks. In Lieu of Flowers: Marilyn requested memorials be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
