Wayne A. "Sonny" Carlson, 56, Grand Forks, ND died Monday, January 7, 2013 in Sanford Medical Center of Fargo, ND. Wayne Arthur Carlson was born September 29, 1956 in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, the son of Wayne and Barbara Carlson. Sonny was raised in a military family so he lived in many states while growing up. He eventually settled in Minneapolis, MN where he worked at an upholstery shop, primarily recovering auto seats. Eventually with his wife he moved back to East Grand Forks to be closer to family and friends. Sonny later attended Northland Community College in East Grand Forks, MN. However, serious health issues forced him to discontinue school. In addition he started and held an Epilepsy Support Group for awhile at Options in East Grand Forks, MN. Sonny truly enjoyed preaching to everyone and anyone about God, listening and singing along to his Christian music and watching TBN daily if he got the chance. He also enjoyed grocery shopping (where he could shop for hours) and dollar stores. Furthermore he loved to cook when he was able to and always had a saying "the chief, doesn't do the dishes". Survivors include his wife, Tammy, Grand Forks; daughters, Amanda Carlson, Grand Forks, Angela Carlson, Grand Forks; son, Robert Carlson, Crookston, MN; grandchild, Keegan Glimsdahl, Grand Forks, father, Wayne Carlson, New Mexico; sisters, Marlene Boss, Washington state, Wendy Carlson; brother, Frank Germain, Florida. Sonny was preceded in death by his mother and sister Barbie. Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Hosanna Full Gospel Church, 606 S. 18th St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church.
