Robert (Bob) Donald Walters, age 78, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Altru Hospital. Bob was born February 13, 1934 in Millville, Minnesota, the son of Vernon Edward and Natalie (Eisner) Walters. He grew up in East Grand Forks, Minnesota and later graduated from East Grand Forks High School. On September 9, 1956 he married Marilyn Stroh at Grace Baptist Church in Grand Forks. They had 3 children: Yvonne, Randy and Alyssa. He worked for Burlington Northern Railway, Frito-Lay and later for over 25 years at Grand Forks Grocery Company as a salesman. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years with his son, Randy, brother Vern and brother-in-law, Lee Chase. He was an avid fisherman and taught his grandchildren to fish. He enjoyed being at his lake home on Big Wolf Lake and spending time there with his family. He built and flew model airplanes and enjoyed wood working. He had the gift of the gab and could talk to just about anyone. He is survived by, Randy (Marlene), grandchildren; Katie, Nick, Matt and Madyson Walters all of Grand Forks, brother Vern Walters of Bemidji, MN; sister Jean Pledger of Wichita, Kansas; sister Linda Walters of Kearns, Utah; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; children, Yvonne and Alyssa; and brother, Ken. MEMORIAL SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2012 at Grace Baptist Church in Grand Forks. VISITATION/SHARING OF MEMORIES: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Monday, January 21st at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the service. INURNMENT: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
