Arlene M. McDougall, 84, Grand Forks, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Arlene Mae Young was born to Otto and Bertha Young on February 5, 1928 in Kensal, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Kensal. Arlene and Thomas McDougall were united in marriage on September 3, 1949 in Jamestown, North Dakota. They lived in Minneapolis for a short time, and from 1951 to 1964 in Fargo. They moved to Grand Forks in 1964. She was employed as a receptionist/hostess at Metropolitan Savings and Loan in Grand from 1973-1993. Arlene was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a member of the choir and the LWML. Arlene loved caring for her home, yard and garden. She treasured relationships with family and friends, invested in them and those family members and friends thought her to be a beautiful, elegant, and classy lady. She danced every Sunday night away at the American Legion. She is survived by a son, Dan (Lucy) McDougall, Benton, Arkansas; grandchildren, Cody McDougall, Amy (Nick) Brown and their children, Harrison and Caroline, and Beth (Kyle) Lawrence and their children, Lucy and Oliver; a brother, Les (Bernice) Young, in Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas, and a son, Doug McDougall. Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1710 Cherry St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church. Memorials: are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church, or the ALS Foundation.
