MaryBeth (Bogart) Martin, 53, Grand Forks, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at her home after losing a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and friends. MaryBeth was born on May 16, 1959, the daughter of Marlyn and Phyllis (Thompson) Bogart. MaryBeth grew up in Milnor, North Dakota, graduating from Milnor High School. She attended Golden Valley Lutheran College, in Golden Valley, Minnesota with a degree in Parish Work. She then moved to Grand Forks, and attended the University of North Dakota, graduating with a degree in Social Work. During college, she worked at the White Banner Uniform Shop. On June 11, 1983, MaryBeth was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Martin. From 1987 until 2006, MaryBeth worked for Valley Memorial Homes. Since June of 2006, MaryBeth had been employed as General Manager at Comfort Keepers. She was legendary across the entire system in her leadership, humor, and commitment to care for seniors. She treated everyone as if they were a member of her own family. MaryBeth was active in many community organizations including: Alzheimer's Association, Junior Achievement, Helping Hands, Senior Providers, Interagency Forum, Long Term Care Association, Boy Scout Troop 19 and Girl Scouts. She will forever be remembered for her contributions, volunteerism, and mentoring others. MaryBeth had a great sense of humor which would always bring a smile and a laugh. She was a wonderful conversationalist and gifted storyteller. She was a person who loved to be around people, a person who always thought of others first, a person who was a friend to everyone she met. She treasured time spent with family. MaryBeth was proud of her sons, Austin and Walker, and enjoyed supporting them in their ambitions. One of her favorite times of the year was the family's annual ski trip to Montana. MaryBeth had many hobbies including; knitting, soap making, canning, gardening, and she shared her talents with others. She loved living in the country and was active in her church and community. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Bob, children; Austin, Jamestown, ND, Walker, Vergas, MN, mother, Phyllis (Thompson) Bogart, brothers; Mark (Jill) Bogart, Milnor, ND, Mike (Robin) Bogart, Chicago, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Marlyn Bogart. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Evanger Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, February 8, 2013 from 5- 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service in Sharon Lutheran Church, 1720 S 20th St, Grand Forks.
