Donna Mae Hellman

Donna Mae Hellman, 65, Grand Forks, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Altru Hospital. Donna was born July 16, 1947 in McLaughlin, SD, the daughter of Zora and Hilda (Reiker) Hummel. She was raised and educated in Selfridge, ND where she graduated High school. Donna moved to Mandan, ND where she attended Joseph's School of Hair Design. She worked in the Bismarck-Mandan area as a hair stylist until she married Gary Hellman in 1973 at St Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan. They farmed with Gary's father near Glen Ulen, ND, for a while before moving to Evanston, WY. From there they moved to Deadwood, SD, where they lived for ten years. They moved to Walhalla in 1993. Donna started working at Gastrak Service Station in Pembina in 1997. She retired due to her health in 2006. They moved to Grand Forks in 2007. Donna loved to spend time with her family, playing with her grandsons, reading, and playing on the computer. Donna is survived by her loving husband Gary, daughter Candace (James) Thomas, Walhalla, ND, Sister-in-laws; Delores Hummel, Fargo, ND, Karen Hellman, Bismarck, ND, Madonna Roth, Elgin, ND, Bernadette (Ron) Braun, Northwood, ND, brother-in-laws; Thomas Hellman, Glen Ulen, ND, Robert (Barbara) Hellman, Lincoln, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Myron. Memorial service will be held Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
