Robert Clausen, 67, Grand Forks, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at home. Robert James Clausen , the son of Mildred Blossinghorn and Clifford Clausen was born March 28, 1946 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He grew up in East Grand Forks, Minnesota with his seven siblings. Rob played sports in high school and graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School in 1964. Robert Clausen and Candace L. Holweger were united in marriage on September 11, 1976 in Grand Forks. They lived in a house on South 4th Street that became a labor of love, but was lost in the flood of 1997. Rob enjoyed curling and playing golf with friends and especially his brothers. He loved his garden and growing fruit for his hobby of winemaking. Rob loved helping out at Zion United Methodist Church. He counted money every Monday, and also liked helping his church ladies making lefsa and pies. Any chance he could spend time with his grandchildren was very special to him and to them. One never knew what they would come up with for excitement. He is survived by his wife, Candy, Grand Forks; sons, Ted Clausen, Minneapolis, and Richard (Violet) Kruse with grandchildren, Gideon, Caleb, and Hannah of Fredericksburg, Texas; siblings, Chuck, Mary (Tom) Case, Lyle (Judy) , Paul, Steve (Suzie), Grace (Kent) Asheim, and Kathy (Todd) Johnston; 14 nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Jim A. Holweger; and special friends, Vern, Kent and Elsie. He is preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Services: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013 in Zion United Methodist Church, 1001 24th Ave South, Grand Forks. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. with an 8:00 p.m. Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks and for the hour prior to the service in the church.
