Beverly "Mern" Olson age 90 of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Saturday, April 27th, 2013 at her daughter's home in Chaska, MN. Mern Olson was born in Grafton, ND on February 27, 1923 to Harry & Merle Feick. She grew up in Angus, MN and graduated from Warren High School. Mern attended Aaker's Business College in Grand Forks and graduated in 1941. She married George Olson at First Methodist Church in Grand Forks on May 19, 1942. While her husband served in the military, Mern was employed by KILO radio and Montgomery Wards. After her husband returned, the family moved to Jasper, MN from 1951-1965. After selling the family creamery the family moved to Sidney, Montana and Mern was employed by the Sidney Credit Bureau from 1954-69. In 1969 she returned with her family to Grand Forks and they purchased her husband's family home at 521 So. 5th Street. Mern was Credit Manager for the Credit & Collection Bureau of Greater Grand Forks for 20 years. Mern enjoyed her activities as Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and Worthy Matron of Eastern Star. She was a member at Wesley United Methodist Church for 44 years and served as President of Wesley United Methodist Women, as well as many other committees. She loved to be of service and spent many wonderful hours baking pies and cookies, having coffee parties and bridge gatherings, opening her home to family and friends. Her family was her greatest joy and a blessing from God. Mern was preceded in death by her loving husband, George, and her grandson, Brock. She is survived by her children, Denese(Dan) Sollom, Cheryl(Rick) Molenaar, Marshall(Vicki) Olson, and Judy(Ray) Schalow, 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mern's life will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1600 4th Ave North, Grand Forks, ND on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 3:30p.m.
