Helen Jean Johnson

Helen Jean Johnson, 70, of Grand Forks died suddenly on May 19 at Altru Hospital. Helen was born on June 12, 1942 to Frank and Helen Lizakowski in Minto, ND. On September 16, 1961 she married Stephan (BZ) Johnson of Crookston, MN. Together Helen and BZ started a life together that lasted more than 50 years. They were blessed with three sons and one daughter. Their house was filled with memories of eventful travels, fun camping trips, hunting adventures and lots of chaos and excitement. Helen always had a new project and kept busy sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also was keeping BZ busy around the house! Helen is survived by her husband, Stephan Johnson, sons, Ron (Denise) Johnson, Salinas, CA, Duane (Barb) Johnson, Jamestown, ND, Dustan Johnson, Grand Forks and daughter Susanne (Bill) Straus, grandchildren Tyr Johnson, Tyler and Allyson Straus, Ryan and Bailey Bubach and Brandi Grubbele, sisters, Clara Wysocki, Marianne Rudnik, Frances Gerszewski and brother David Lizakowski. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joan Slominski. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 PM in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks.
