Alice Marie (Bergeron) Farstad: Survived by her loving family, grandsons Benjamin and Dominic and daughter-in-law Barbara, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2013 at the age of 91. Alice, who was known by many as Al, was born on September 1, 1921 in Argyle, MN where as a young woman she worked in the local drug store. In 1940, Alice married Enoch Farstad and together they raised their son Bernard. Early on, they resided in numerous small towns along the Red River including Kennedy and Donaldson, but eventually made their final home in Grand Forks. Many knew Alice because she managed the fabric store Tischarts in Grand Forks for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Alice was a master baker who specialized in breads and bars that she served while enjoying her numerous pinochle victories. Alice's family and many friends knew her as a very caring person with a great sense of humor. She cared for everyone around her while maintaining her smile and laughter. She will be greatly missed by all. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Northwood Deaconess Health Center who provided amazing care for Alice during her final years. Her ashes will be buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery next to her loving husband Enoch.
