Louie Brandt

Louie G. Brandt, 87 went to be with his Lord and Savior, July 15, 2013. Louie was born in Austin, MN on September 4, 1925 to Lewis and Mabel (Dawley) Brandt. He grew up in Decorah, Iowa. He met his wife, Artice, in a potato field and they were married October 6, 1950 in Cresco, Iowa. They were married for 57 years until her passing on August, 14, 2008. Together they founded Grand Forks Christian Center and spent many years doing God's work. Louie served in the US Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated several service stations in the Grand Forks area. Louie's passions in life were God, family, gardening and wood. He is survived by his 8 children: George (Donna) Brandt, Walhalla, ND, Sidney (Cheri) Brandt, Walhalla, ND, Pamela (Ron) Ishii, Rio Rancho, NM, Susan Brandt, Burdett, Alberta, Jane (Carter) Simmons-Smith, Grand Forks, ND, Timothy (Courtney) Brandt, Grand Forks, ND, LuAnn (Greg) Slabaugh, Grand Forks, ND Amy (Joe) Koplin, Grand Forks, ND, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, sisters, Esther Spilde, Joyce Brandt, Decorah, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brothers Mervin, and Earl Brandt. Funeral service will be held Monday, July 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Freedom Church, located at 308 Demers Ave, Grand Forks. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 5 - 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in Amundson Funeral Home.
