Gilma McLean

Gilma T. McLean, 97, Hillsboro, North Dakota, died Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Sanford Health Hillsboro Care Center. Gilma Thelma Vigen was born to Nils and Gina (Bolstad) Vigen on October 19, 1915 in Silvesta Township of Walsh County, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Rural Silvesta Township Schools. In 1940 Gilma was united in marriage to Roy A. McLean in Adams, North Dakota. They made their home on the family farm between Adams and Edinburg. In 1970 when Roy passed away she moved to Grand Forks where she resided until 2007 when she moved to the Hillsboro Assisted Living facility. She moved to the Hillsboro Nursing Home in June of 2013. Gilma is survived by four children, Gayle Schue, Coon Rapids, MN, Cheryle Messner, Hillsboro, ND, Janelle (Steve) Cullen, Kissimmee, FL, and James McLean, Naples, FL; 7 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, Mark (Tracey) Messner and Liesl, Jason (Angie) Messner, Ryan and Owen, Michelle (Jason) Elliott, Zachary and Xander, Melissa (Mason) Schwartz, Gavin and James, Anne Cullen, Jennifer (Dan) Kane, Julia McLean. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sons-in-law, Tom Schue and Vern Messner, 4 brothers, Glenn, Vernon, Albert and Lloyd, and 2 sisters, Merna and Eunice. Memorial Services: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in West Adams Cemetery, Adams, North Dakota.
