Helen Grace (Enerson) Schauer, 93, of Grand Forks, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks. Helen was the daughter of Emil Olus and Grace Julia (Nelson) Enerson of Hamilton, North Dakota. Helen was born May 30, 1920 in Hamilton. She graduated from Hamilton High School. Helen was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Helen was united in marriage to William Able Schauer, on February 2, 1941, in Grand Forks. William (Bill) worked for Great Northern Railroad. They had 9 children. Helen is survived by Bonnie Bell, Arizona City, AZ.; Edith Impson, Selah,WA.; Helen Kay (Donald) Sadler, Yakima, WA; Cynthia Rennie, Grand Forks, ND; Brenda Bennett, Woodland, WA; Carol Schauer, Middletown, OH; William Jr. (Barbara) Schauer, GrandForks, ND; Debra DuVall, Grand Forks, ND. There are 21 Grandchildren and many Great-Grandchildren. She is survived also by a very special sister, Ida Belsheim of Red Bluff, CA and a special brother, Harvey (Rhoda) Enerson, Hamilton, ND. Helen spent many years working for others doing childcare, housekeeping, cleaning of the Old First National Bank Building and Walman Optical, while raising her family. Bill passed away July 3, 1971. After his passing, Helen worked for D and H Beauty Supply, Fanny Farmer Candy and then retired after working for Grand Forks City and County Employees Federal Credit Union (Now Riverfork Credit Union). Helen enjoyed cooking and baking, writing poetry, family events, and going to plays, Chorus and Band performances of her grandchildren. Many servicemen who were introduced to the Schauer family spent their Holidays away from their families with the Schauers because of the warmth and compassion shown by Helen and the Schauer family. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; son, Edward, and granddaughter Julie Ann Leegard. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Andrew Enerson, Clarence Enerson, Neil Enerson and sister, Emily Larson. Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28th at Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Visitation: Friday, September 27 from 5-7pm with a 7pm prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the service. Interment: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
