Fred Mitchell

Fred Mitchell, 87, East Grand Forks, Minnesota, died Friday, September 20, 2013 at home. Frederic William Mitchell was born September 2, 1926 to Cecil and Winifred Mitchell at Parkville, Minnesota. He attended schools at Mizpah and Northome, Miinnesota. Fred Mitchell and Dorothy J. Anderson were united in marriage on December 20, 1947. Fred was employed by the Great Northern Railroad, Star Bus Lines and Triangle Bus Lines, and later worked part time driving charter bus for UND Athletic Teams and the Grand Forks City Bus until he retired in 2001. Fred and Dorothy loved to travel and enjoyed spending winters in Yuma, Arizona. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aire 350 for 45 years. Fred is survived by his children, Diane (Doug) Foy, Grand Forks, Robert (Kathy) Mitchell, San Diego, CA, James (Elisa) Mitchell, Seattle, WA, Debbie Mitchell, Grand Forks, Mark (Charlotte) Mitchell, Grand Forks; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter (Jane) Mitchell, Cambridge, MN and Richard Mitchell, Marine on St. Croix, MN. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy who died August 16, 2007, his parents, and sisters, Marilyn Rogers and Beatrice Carlson. Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment: Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, North Dakota.
