Irene B. Voll, 85, Grand Forks, ND, died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at her son's home in East Grand Forks, MN. Irene Bakke was born August 10, 1928 in Mapes, ND the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Hefta) Bakke. She moved with her family to Mayville, ND where she graduated from high school in 1946. She attended Mayville State College. Irene married Orion Voll on May 21, 1949 in Portland, ND. They lived briefly in Mayville and later in Lexington, MD where she worked in a bank. In 1957, they moved to Grand Forks where Irene worked at 1st Federal Bank, Dakota Bank and Plaza Jewelers. Irene was very active in many organizations around Grand Forks including Calvary Lutheran Church, the Grand Forks Senior Center, Widow and Widower's Support Group, was a volunteer for breast cancer patients and was Past President of the Quota Club. Survivors include her son, Michael (Tamara) Voll, East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Michael, Katherine, Matthew and Jacob; 4 step grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Cook, Joliet, IL, Sandy (Paul) Eliason, Portland, ND; brothers, Roger Bakke, Grand Forks, Ray Bakke, Portland, ND and Norman (Grace) Bakke, Portland, ND; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Bakke, Thompson, ND, Vern Voll, Hatton, ND and Muriel Arneson. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Orion in 1999; a granddaughter, Jessica Voll; sister, Janet (William) Cosden; brother, Perry Bakke; sister-in-law, Beverly Bakke and brothers-in-law, Max Cook, Orville Voll and Harvey Arneson,. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 25, 2013 in Calvary Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks.
