Gordon Irwin Jasmer

July 24, 1921 — September 28, 2013

Gordon fell asleep in death on September 28, 2013, at Arbor Park Assisted Living in Moorhead, Minnesota, at the age of 92. On July 24, 1921, Gordon was born to William and Clara (Troftgruben) Jasmer, in their home in rural Walsh County, ND. Gordon married Georgia VanRaden, at University Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, on September 3, 1949; the couple had four daughters. For most of Gordon's working career, he was a house painter and earned the respect of his customers for his detail and his need for perfection in his work. However, Gordon strived for even more perfection in his garden in South Grand Forks, often walking to his garden from his home in East Grand Forks; he loved to talk about his garden and share its produce. On warm afternoons, Gordon would sit down and take his breaks in the shade of the big white barn - the same barn he painted years earlier when it held horses. He referred to this as his paradise. Gordon was also a hunter and fisherman. The sight of little children always put a smile on his face. Gordon is survived by his daughters, Linda Hurst (Jeffrey) Torgerson of Grand Forks; Lillette (Ronald) Bommer, of West Fargo; Gail (Robert) Kircher, and Glenda (Craig) Nordsven, of Fargo. Grandchildren are Jayson Hurst, Jeremy (Jennifer) Hurst, Gwenivere (David) Dubisar, Rachel Kimbal, Lonnie (Ashley) Bommer, Abigail (Jim) McEwen, Kyle Nordsven, Vanessa (Brian) Peterson, Ryan (Amanda) Bommer, Kevin Nordsven, Lauren (Shannon) Bommer, Karina (Justin) Ragan, Linsey (Casey) Culkins, and Ethan Torgerson. Great Grandchilden are: Autumn and Haley Kimbal; Austin and Tyler Hurst and Kaleb Lynch; Kendal and Jonah Bommer; Danny Hurst; Julianna and Riley Peterson; Aiden and Keera McEwen; Landon and Aubrielle Bommer; and Elliot and Alexander Culkins . Other surviving family includes sisters, Lillian Iverson and Inez (John) Dahlgren, brothers/sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia; sisters, Eleanore and Wilma; brothers, Lester, Everett, Clarence, and Alvin; and son-in-law, Danny Hurst. FUNERAL SERVICES: 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service. INTERMENT: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks, MN. A guestbook may be signed or viewed at www.amundsonfuneralhome.com
