Edwin L. Haug, 90, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare. Edwin was born October 27, 1922 in rural Hoople, North Dakota, the son of Ole and Julia (Swenson) Haug. He was raised and educated in Auburn, North Dakota. Edwin married Evelyn Sondeland on April 23, 1942. They had three sons, Jerry, James and Kenneth. Edwin farmed near Grafton, North Dakota for more than 20 years. He was also the Transportation Director for the Grafton Public Schools for 17 years. Edwin and Evelyn enjoyed spending winter months in Yuma, Arizona until the time of her death in 1990. Edwin married Kathryn Moen on August 14, 1993. With that union he inherited four step sons and one step daughter. They recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. They spent winter months for 16 years in Yuma, Arizona. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn, Grand Forks; sons, Jerry (Melanie) Haug, Mt. Prospect, Il and James Haug, Grafton, ND; 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; step children, Mike (Michelle) Moen, Thompson, ND, Randy (Merita) Moen, Mound, MN, Kevin (Melonie) Moen, Grand Forks, Jeff (Rosita) Moen, Reynolds, ND, Lori (Craig) Helgason, Grand Forks; 6 step grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild. Edwin was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; son, Kenneth; seven brothers and two sisters. A special thank you to Edwin's son, Jim Haug and Edwin's nephew, Don Haug who have been so supportive during Edwin's illness. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, October 7, 2013 in Trinity Free Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a 6:00 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Landstad Lutheran Church Cemetery of rural Auburn, ND.
