Alice Frances McKinnon

Alice F. McKinnon, 90, formerly of Grand Forks, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Hillsboro Nursing Home. Alice Frances McKinnon was born March 22, 1923 in Michigan, ND, the daughter of Earl & Martha (Bazey) Rutter. She grew up and graduated from Michigan High School. After school she moved to Spokane and Bremmerton, WA and worked in an ammo factory and then moved to Grand Forks. Alice married Walter P. McKinnon November 28, 1945 in St. Michael's Church in GF. She worked as a homemaker until her children were grown, then she worked for the Valley Thrift Shop and Dakota Boy's Ranch as a clerk. Walter died in 1991. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, crossword puzzles, trivia and made cards and crafts. Alice was also an excellent cook, baker and liked writing poetry. Alice is survived by her children, Pat (Jan) McKinnon of Orlando, FL, Susan Kohl of GF, Sally McKinnon of GF, Mary Jo (Dennis) Anderson of Hillsboro, Pam (Don) Wostrel of Sauk Rapids, MN, and Nancy (Dean) Ekren of Manvel; sister, Lillian Trapp of Spokane, WA; 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren; 3-great-grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, George, Hillary, Carl, Ed & Mildred. FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND 58201. VISITATION: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 9th at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND 58201. Visitation will also continue the hour prior to the service at Amundson's.
