Rodney W. "Rod" Carver, 68, Arvilla, ND died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Rodney Willis Carver was born September 4, 1945 in Columbus, GA the son of Willis and Gertrude (Schencks) Carver. Rodney enlisted in the U. S. Air Force. He attended basic training in Texas and was stationed at Altus, Oklahoma with the Atlas F Missile before coming to the Grand Forks Air Force Base in 1965. He was proud to be part of the Minute Man Missile Wing at the Grand Forks Air Force Base for 20 years. He retired from the Air Force in 1985 as a Master Sergeant after 22 years of service to his country. He then worked as a truck driver for Altendorf Trucking for 28 years. Rod was very skilled in mechanics and could repair many things, (Mr. Fix It). He was also a member of the American Legion Post 500. Rodney married Donna Britt on July 16, 1966 in Ascension Lutheran Church of Emerado, ND. She survives along with a daughter, Sylvia Carver, West Fargo, ND; brothers, Arthur (Vickie) Carver, Donald (Vanissa) Carver and Fletcher (Becky) Carver, all of Gainsville, GA; sisters, Sherry (Melvin) Armstrong, and Karen (Monty) Redimarker, both of Dahlonega, GA and Norma Carver, Anchorage, AK. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 2, 2013 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturday from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM in Amundson Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery of Honeyford, ND. Military Funeral Honors will be by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, the American Legion Post #157 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3817. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials are preferred to The Grand Forks Humane Society
