Dolores M. Loberg, Grand Forks, ND, died Sunday, November 3 at Valley Eldercare Center, due to complications from a stroke. She was born April 15,1929 to Richard and Olga (Lehfeldt) Morris in Valley City, No.Dak., where she grew up and later attended and graduated from Valley City Teachers College. She received her bachelor's degree in English and teaching with a minor in home economics. On June 11, 1950, she married Warren C. Loberg at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City. The couple taught together in Svea and Sheyenne, No.Dak.. They later moved to Drayton, No.Dak. where Warren served as Superintendent. In 1959, they moved to Grand Forks, No.Dak. She taught English in East Grand Forks, Minn. , before beginning a long and prosperous career as a private piano teacher. Dolores taught piano to hundreds of students, including a preschool group called Mini Music Makers. Her students performed well, as they were taught by one of the best piano teachers in No.Dak. Many of her students continued to keep in touch with Dolores through the years. She not only taught them piano but also empowered her students with an appreciation of music, and developed a lifelong bond with many of her students. She was active in PEO Chapter T, Thursday Music Club, Greater Grand Forks Music Teachers Association, Piano Guild and various state and national music organizations. In 2002 Dolores was awarded the Gold Note Award, given to people engaged in promoting opportunities for others for the enjoyment and appreciation of music in the Greater Grand Forks area. In 2013, Thursday Music Club honored her with its Silver Staff Award, for many years of music instruction. Dolores and Warren joined Calvary Lutheran Church, Grand Forks in 1959. Dolores was at one time a member of church choir and managed the Calvary Board of education. Up until her illness, she was very involved with her church circle, where she enjoyed the fellowship and presenting the circle lessons. She was a member of Entre Nous Club, since 1974. She enjoyed Entre Nous and looked forward to each meeting with the dear friends she cherished. Dolores was known for her beautiful smile and was a very caring wife, mother and friend. She touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed. She is survived by Warren, her husband of 63 years, daughters Nancy (Mark) Reinhiller, Beaumont, Cal; Sara, Grand Forks ; grandaughter Emily (Michael ) Palmer, Eagan, Minn.; grandson Casey Kress (Wendy), Tooele, Utah; a great grandson, Jackson Warren Palmer; a brother, Harold Morris, Menlo Park, CA; and several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by a brother, Ken Morris, and an infant brother, Baby Jackie. The family asks in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Thursday Music Club scholarship fund, for future musicians to continue a lifelong love of music in memory of Dolores. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
