Roy Bertelson

Roy Martin Bertelson,93, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center in Grand Forks. Roy was born February 1, 1920 in Moorhead Minnesota. Roy worked in Washington DC during world war 11 as a machinist. He returned to Moorhead after the war, and married Doris Knudson Erickson in 1947. They made their home in Moorhead and later Detroit Lakes, MN. Roy started the Rusco window franchise in Grand Forks ND in 1954, which he owned and operated until his retirement. Roy was an avid golfer, into his 80's, and also a founding member in the Grand Forks Curling Club. Roy was preceeded in death, by his parents, Oluf and Anna Bertelson; his wife Doris in 2010, his brother James, sisters Olga Lund, Eleanor Pouliott, Agnes Bertelson ,and Gladys Wasson. He is survived by three children, James Erickson, St. Elisonore CA, Kathy Offutt, Stillwater MN, Mark (Joyce) Bertelson, four grandsons, Mike Erickson, Jerry Erickson, Ryan Offutt, and Jim Bertelson, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of the Valley Memorial Home employees for their care and dedication. Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Moorhead, Minnesota.
