Chad Lewis Johnson

Chad L. Johnson, 43, of Fargo, formerly of Grand Forks and Lincoln, NE, died Monday, November 18, 2013 in Fargo, ND. He was born in Grand Forks January 10, 1970 to Gary L. Johnson and Margaret Pound Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at United Lutheran Church. He attended Roosevelt Elementary, and South Jr. High. He graduated from Central High School in 1988. Chad participated in youth hockey, and was a hockey player for Central. He gave up his senior season at Central to play for the Rochester Mustangs of the USHL. Chad attended UND from 1990 to 1993 and played hockey for the Fighting Sioux. Chad played professional hockey with Quad Cities and Fort Worth. He spent 3 seasons as assistant hockey coach of the Lincoln Stars of the USHL. He spent the next ten years as a head coach in the North American Hockey League. He was an assistant coach with the Fargo Force for two years and was head coach of the Lincoln Stars from 2010 to 2013. Chad enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary, and his grandparents, Fred and Alice Pound, and Reuben and Louella Johnson. He is survived by his son Jack and girlfriend Missy Galipeau of Fargo, his mother Margaret and his stepfather Newell Ueland of Thompson, brothers Steve (Nancy) of Grand Forks, and Brent (Christina) of Denver. Step-brother Chris Ueland of Thief River Falls and stepsister Melanie (Ali Shirvani Mahdavi) Ueland of Minneapolis, and 10 nieces and nephews. MEMORIAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013 at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. VISITATION: 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. with a 5:30 p.m. prayer service on Sunday, November 24, at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks. Visitation will continue the hour prior to the service at the church.
