Travis Gierszewski, 36, Grand Forks, died Friday, November 22, 2013 as the result of an automobile accident near Thompson, North Dakota. Travis Matthew Gierszewski was born June 5, 1977 at Grafton, North Dakota to Lawrence and Doreen. He was raised and educated in Drayton, North Dakota, graduating from Drayton High School in 1995. He attended Mayville State University, and later transferred to UND where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science. He married Amy Hammon on June 12, 2004 at Rochester, Minnesota. They have lived in Grand Forks since their marriage. Travis was currently a partner in B & G Construction in Grand Forks. Travis enjoyed all sports including playing golf, softball, basketball and hunting. Above all Travis was a true family man and a dear friend to so many. He spent his life surrounding himself with people he loved. Travis is survived by his wife, Amy, Grand Forks; children, Justin, Paytn, Preslie, and Paris, all at home; parents, Doreen (Tom) Steenerson and Lawrence (Sherry) Gierszewski, all of Grand Forks; siblings, Lisa (Travis) Bursinger, Grand Forks, Devin (Alesha) Gierszewski, Portland, ND, Brady Steenerson, Grand Forks, and Tyson Gierszewski, Grand Forks; grandmothers, Carol Knudson, Agate, ND, Edith Gierszewski, Grafton, ND, and Margery Steenerson, Drayton, ND; step-sisters, Stacy (Art) Specht, Lakeville, MN, and Suzanne (Pat)Van Heel, Willow River, MN; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Benard Knudson, Conrad Gierszewski, Marlen Steenerson, and his aunt, Denise Schneider. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at University Lutheran Church, 2122 University Ave., Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service Tuesday, November 26, 2013 and one hour prior to the service all at University Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Thompson Cemetery, Thompson, North Dakota. University Lutheran Church in Grand Forks will receive memorials for benefit of the family.
