Margaret Stola

Margaret F. Stola, Grand Forks, died Thursday, November 28, 2013 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Margaret Florence Behnke, the daughter of Henry and Susie (Owen) Behnke was born February 21, 1916 at Wonewoc, Wisconsin. She was baptized at the Lutheran church there and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Shelly, Minnesota. Her family moved to Shelly when she was a child. She attended Pathfinder School District #13 and Halstad High School. She was united in marriage to Harry Stola in 1934. The couple worked and farmed together until his retirement in 1984. She continued the yard work, gardening, flowers and quilting. She traveled to the Holy Land, Australia, New Zealand, Around the World Tour Trip, South America and Panama. In 1993 she moved to Devils Lake, North Dakota to be near her daughter and family. During those years she attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church with her family. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Shelly, Minnesota, the Zion Ladies Aid, Zion Girls Aid, Circle, Bible Studies, and taught Sunday School. She leaves to mourn two daughters, Dorothy (Lloyd) Tureson, Morristown, N.J. and Glenda (Joel) Rotvold, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Justin (Lynda) Rotvold, Jance (Bill) Denzler, and Eric (Kathy) Tureson; great-grandchildren, Kristina Denzler, Matthew Denzler, and Ethan Tureson; a sister, Ruth Howland, Wisconsin; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and two sisters. Funeral Services: will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 in Shelly Marsh River Lutheran Church, Shelly, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Shelly, Minnesota.
