Marion L. Vonesh, 89, Grand Forks, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 in 4000 Valley Square - Woodside Village Oakcrest, Grand Forks. Marion Louise Hoover, the daughter of Carl B. and Lillie May (Britten) Hoover, was born on February 5, 1924 at Melrose, North Dakota. She was raised and educated at Petersburg, North Dakota, graduating from Petersburg High School in 1942. Marion Hoover and Ardell Vonesh were united in marriage on October 23, 1954 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks. They lived in Grand Forks where she was employed as a switchboard operator for Northwestern Bell telephone until she retired in 1982 after 40 years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. Marion enjoyed sewing and crafts. She is survived by her husband, Ardell, Grand Forks; children, Ronald (Sheila) Vonesh, Anchorage, Alaska, and Carmen Woodard, Clifford, North Dakota; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lillie and Carl; and sisters, Helen Clark, Adele Hoover, and Carol Kraus; son-in-law, Gregory Woodard. Funeral Liturgy: 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2013 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, North Dakota.
