Eileen Marie Jackson

Eileen Marie Jackson, 86, of Grand Forks, ND died Friday, December 6, 2013 in her home surrounded by family. Eileen M. Schmunk was born on January 7, 1927 in Crookston, MN the daughter of Fred and Isabel (Johnson). Eileen grew up and attended school in Crookston, MN. She attended Moorhead teachers college and received her teaching degree. Eileen taught school in Fergus Falls and Crookston, MN. She married Richard "Dick" Jackson on August 19, 1950 in Crookston, MN where they lived until 1960 before moving to Grand Forks, ND. Eileen was active in P.E.O., Thursday Music Club, Entre Nous and the Order of the Eastern Star. Richard and Eileen joined Calvary Lutheran church in 1960. She was very active in the church and served on many committees, including education, serving 30 years leading the altar guild, circle and Wednesday morning coffee. She enjoyed attending her grandson's activities and games. Eileen and Dick are avid SIOUX fans and attended all the SIOUX events and games they could. Eileen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Richard; daughters, Kathy (Andy) Wetzel, Woodbury, MN, Mary Ann (Blaine) Soderberg, Grand Forks, ND; grandson's, Nathan, Mitchell and Nicholas Soderberg, Thomas Wetzel; and a sister Janet Johnson, Circle Pines, MN; nieces and nephews, Paul (Chris) Johnson, Kenosha, WI, Julie (Doug) Thompson, Centerville, MN, Lee Johnson, Circle Pines, MN; grand nieces and nephews, Ryan and Kayla Thompson, Centerville, MN, Lauren Johnson, Kenosha, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Isabel. Services will be Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 South 9th Street, Grand Forks. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7PM, with a prayer service at 7PM in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 South 42nd St., Grand Forks, ND. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.
