Scott Christopher Tangen

November 20, 1985 — January 15, 2014

Scott Tangen, 28, was taken suddenly and far too soon from his family and friends on January 15, 2014. Scott was surrounded by many, as he drifted off to heaven peacefully at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. Scott, known by his friends as "Tangen," was born on November 20, 1985. He graduated from Red River High School in 2004 and received his Associates Degree in Computer Networking from Northland Community and Technical College in East Grand Forks, MN. Scott married the love of his life, Darcie (Eggert), on September 6, 2011 in Las Vegas, NV. This was just one of many trips the two would make during their short time together, each of which packed a lifetime of memories to never forget. Scott most recently worked at Dacotah Paper in Fargo, ND. Scott lived every day to the fullest and was nothing less than the life of the party. It didn't matter what you were doing, if Scott was there, you were having fun. Some of his favorite things to do included sand volleyball, bowling, rock climbing, golf, attending sporting events, concerts and comedy shows. Scott had a zest for life, and for people. If you were friends with Scott, he was friends with your friends, and your friends' friends, and their friends too. His energy was infectious and exhilarating. It's certain that if you ever met Scott, you could never forget him. Scott's family and friends will relish in the time they had with him and while knowing what they've lost, they'll never forget what they gained from having him as part of their lives. Scott is survived by his wife Darcie, West Fargo; puppy, Jax; mother, Janice Tangen, Grand Forks; grandmother, Jeanne McAlpin, Grand Forks; aunts, Patricia (Arden) Berggren, Grand Forks and Pamila Tangen, Brooklyn Park, MN; mother-in-law, Deborah Eggert, Grafton; father-in-law, Tony Eggert, Richey, MT; brother-in-law, Josh Baker, Grand Forks; cousins, Rachael (Rob) Neil , Georgia, Crystal (Blake) Johnson, Grand Forks, April Thorstad, Bismarck and Jonathan Berggren, Moorhead; extended family, the Gesslers of Grand Forks. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elton and Janis Tangen. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Sharon Lutheran Church, 1720 South 20th St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for two hours before the service in the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.
