Lois Sorum

Lois R. Sorum, 84, Grand Forks, ND passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 in the Valley Memorial Home Transitional Care Unit. Lois Ruth Wolsky was born on a farm near Kensal, ND to William and Anna (Feldentrager) Wolsky. She graduated from high school in Kensal then graduated from the New York Hairdressing Academy in Fargo, ND. She practiced hairdressing for a number of years at Ann's Beauty Shop. She later operated a beauty shop out of her home, then worked for Sears for 16 ½ years. Lois enjoyed fishing, yard work, playing Scrabble, solving crossword puzzles and making lefse at holiday time. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Lois is survived by her husband, Jerry, Grand Forks; sons, Jayson (Roxy) Sorum and Greg (Jodi) Sorum, both of Grand Forks; and grandchildren, Michael, Abby, Jesse, Jake and Jimmy; & several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Shorty and Ervin and by sisters, Anna Wolsky, Penny Haas and Connie Hobmeier. Lois has donated her body to the University of North Dakota Department of Anatomy. Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, February 3, 2014 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Altru Cancer Center or Altru Hospice.
