Elizabeth Mae (Bess) Lyngby, 101, passed away on February 17, 2014, at 4000 Valley Square - Woodside Village, Grand Forks, North Dakota. Elizabeth was born to George & Mary Ellen Knauss on October 30, 1912, in Hannaford, North Dakota. She married Carl L. Lyngby on December 24, 1931. They resided in Cooperstown and Buffalo, North Dakota, prior to moving to Grand Forks, North Dakota, in 1953. Elizabeth was employed by the County Agents Office as a secretary. She retired in 1976 to Red Willow Lake, North Dakota, and Mesa, Arizona. They returned to Grand Forks in 1999. Carl passed away in 2011, after enjoying 80 years of marriage to Elizabeth. Elizabeth is survived by her two daughters; Joan (Jerry) Reinhardt, Grand Forks, ND, & Alison Keyes, Yountville, CA; two grandsons, Tom (Drea) Brown, North Mankato, MN, & Jon Keyes, Napa, CA; three step-grandchildren, Aaron (Tanya)Reinhardt, Peoria, AZ, Alison (Dennis) Hoff, Fargo, ND, & Josh Reinhardt, Fargo, ND; great-grandson, Ian Brown; five step-great-grandchildren, Noah, Emma, & Zachary Reinhardt, and Hayley & Xander Hoff. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters; Rachel Day, Margaret Howden, & Helen Broten, & four brothers; Ralph, Harry, Ted, & Donald; & two children, Daniel & Karen, who died in infancy. Elizabeth looked at life like a box of chocolates from which she sampled its pleasures. She treasured the call of mourning doves, a bouquet of lilacs, the simple beauty of a pair of long stemmed roses and the challenge of a crossword puzzle. A memorial service to celebrate Elizabeth's life will be held at 2:00 p.m July 26, 2014, in Grand Forks, at the Havig-Heen Chapel of Valley 4000. Interment will be in Cooperstown, North Dakota. The family suggests memorials be designated to the Valley 4000 Memorial Foundation.
