Ina Wigen, 84, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 in 4000 Valley Square - Woodside Village in Grand Forks. Ina Carrie Ovidia Thykeson was born December 6, 1929 on a farm in rural Sharon ND to Selmer & Karn "Carrie" Thykeson. She was raised by Gustav & Mary Anderson of rural Sharon. She graduated from Sharon High School & received her secondary education from Interstate Business College in Fargo & Aakers Business College in Grand Forks. She married Curtis Wigen on December 22, 1948 at Finley Lutheran Church. They moved to Grand Forks. Ina worked at various jobs from Old Dutch, Armours, to hourly cleaning, Selective Service, Civil Service at the GFAFB & her dream job of working at the Grand Forks Courthouse for the county judge issuing marriage licenses & processing civil case paperwork. She was also a member of the East Grand Forks VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She loved & had a gift for playing music-by-ear on the accordion & piano. She loved entertaining, socializing & meeting people. She was active in her church & ladies aide. She was a great baker of buns (her recipe was featured in the GFHerald) & lefse. She loved traveling, taking drives, family reunions & family geneology. She was our lady-in-red. Her greatest joy & happiness were her children, family & friends. Ina is survived by 3 children; Diann (Terry) Amble, Missoula MT, Doreen Wigen, Fargo ND, Darroll Wigen, Grand Forks ND. 1 sister Hadie Lonne Hatton ND. 2 grandchildren Lars Amble & Matthew (Rae) Amble Seattle WA. 1 great-grandchild Kai Amble Seattle WA. Nieces Marjorie Roberts & Patsy Hanna. Nephews Jim Charlson & Stanley Lonne. Ina is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her foster parents & her brother Claris. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. Prayer Service Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks. Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 22 at 2:00 p.m. in Havig-Heen Auditiorium of 4000 Valley Square- Woodside Village, Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will follow in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks. Memorials are preferred to 4000 Valley Square Woodside Village Oakcrest Unit.
