Elizabeth "Elsie" I. Kristjanson

Elizabeth "Elsie" I. Kristjanson, 93, of Grand Forks, ND died Sunday, March 2, 2014 in Valley 4000, Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND. Elizabeth Ingibjorg Bjornson was born on October 11, 1920 in rural Svold, Pembina County, ND the daughter of Sigurbjorn "Barney G" and Asta (Bradburn) Bjornson. She attended Eastern Star school in LaMoure township. Elsie attended a summer session at the University of North Dakota for Home Economics. She married Hannes G. "Kristy" Kristjanson on October 25, 1941 at Mountain, ND. Hannes and Elsie were married in an Icelandic Ceremony by the Rev. Haraldur Sigmar at the Mountain, ND parsonage. They were proud of their Icelandic heritage and made two trips to Iceland. Elsie was a member Calvary Lutheran Church and was an active member of the Womens Circle there. She was also a member of the Birthday Club in Grafton for over 50 years, she had many hobbies including crocheting, sewing, and baking. Elsie is survived by children, Keith (Arlinda) Kristjanson of Grand Forks, Doreen (Bruce) Marston of Hendersonville, TN, Kenneth (Peggy) Kristjanson of Lolo, MT, Janis Kristjanson and Thomas Karch of Wayne, NE; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Kristjanson, West Fargo, ND; sixteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; sisters, Doreen Johnson of Park River, ND and Pearl Ault of Moorhead, MN; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Hannes Kristjanson; son, Brian; siblings, Christine(Sam)Simundson, Lillian(Ernie)Sarrazin, Margaret(Gene)Zimmerman, Janet(Manny)Austfjord, Tommy, Barney and William Bjornson. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 10:30 AM in Calvary Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for one hour before the service in the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
