Arlene Ann Hanson, 75, passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2014 at her home in Grafton, ND. Arlene was born on June 7, 1938 in Grafton. She was the daughter of William (Bill) and Evelyn Sander Hanson. Her parents along with an infant brother preceded her in death. Arlene grew up on the family farm and spent her entire life in the Grafton area. She was baptized and confirmed at Grafton Lutheran Church where she had been an active member. She was a graduate of Grafton high school and then worked several years at the Grafton National Bank. After her Dad retired from farming, the family built a home in Grafton where she resided until her death. Arlene enjoyed cooking, baking and decorating her home. She also enjoyed visiting and entertaining her friends and relatives. Her "holiday tea parties" were a particular item that she enjoyed and was known for. In earlier years she had dinner parties which she enjoyed hosting and which members of the community still talk about. They showed a characteristic of Arlene's hospitality. She is survived by many cousins and special friend Dr. Myron Scheflo who got her to numerous appointments in Rochester, Minnesota. Funeral services will be at Grafton Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 2 pm with Pastor Chris Gaule officiating. Visitation at the church will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Grafton Lutheran cemetery in the spring.
