Jean L Cornell

Jean L. Cornell, 88, Grand Forks, died Monday, March 17, 2014 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Jean Louise Couch was born in Grand Forks on June 20, 1925 to Bernie "Bun" Couch and Lena (Roth) Couch. She was raised and educated at Fordville, North Dakota, and graduated from Fordville High School. Jean Couch and Keith Cornell were united in marriage on June 15, 1947. They lived in Grand Forks following their marriage. Jean assisted her husband in the construction of several homes in Grand Forks where they resided. She was employed in food service by several local restaurants, and also worked local election polls and the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. Jean enjoyed watching Twins baseball games on television. Her greatest joy was hearing about the accomplishments of her grandsons. Jean is survived by two sons, Rick Cornell, Grand Forks, and Robert "Chip" Cornell (Sheila Nygaard), Grand Forks; two grandsons, Mike and Matt, both of Grand Forks. She is preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, Randy Keith Cornell, and a brother, Richard Couch. Memorial Services: will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 in University Lutheran Church, 2122 University Ave., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be at a later date in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks.
