Woodrow James "Jim" "Coop" Kilmartin, 95, Gilby, ND, died Sunday, March 23, 2014 in the Larimore Good Samaritan Society Nursing Center. Jim was born December 4, 1918 in Inkster, ND, the son of William and Loretta (Smith) Kilmartin. He moved at a young age with his family to Gilby, ND where he attended schools and graduated from high school. Jim served with the U. S. Navy in the Oceanic Pacific Theater during WWII. After the war, he returned to Gilby where he lived and farmed for many years. Jim was very handy and had a very big heart. He was always very willing to use his talents to help others in need. Survivors include his sister, Alice "Pat" (Bill) Cleary, Grand Junction, CO and by several nieces and nephews including Patty (Ron) Nordine, Grand Forks. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Duane and William and by sisters, Jeannie and Midge. Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 27, 2014 in the Gilby Presbyterian Church, Gilby, ND. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery of Gilby at a later date.
