Harold Kozojed

Harold J. Kozojed, 82, formerly of Grand Forks, ND, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Luther Memorial Home of Mayville, ND. Harold was born June 24, 1931 in Lankin, ND, the son of Albert and Lucy (Dvorak) Kozojed. He began school in Lankin, the family moved to Grafton, ND where he graduated from high school He worked at Chuck's Radio Shop and help build Grafton's first television set. Harold entered the U. S. Army on March 18, 1952 at Fargo, ND. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged from Camp Stoneman, CA on March 10, 1954. Harold married Mary Ellen Misialek on February 17, 1955 in Grafton. He graduated from UND with a business degree, then worked as a police officer for the Grand Forks Police Department. He worked for the Social Security offices in Grand Forks, ND, Fargo ND, Crookston, MN and Fergus Falls, where he retired as a manager in 1986, during which he lived in West Fargo, ND for a few years In his retirement, he worked as a security officer at UND and started an antique radio repair service . Harold was a dedicated member of the West Fargo High School Football Chain Gang volunteering for about 32 years.. Survivors include his children, Bill (Cindy) Kozojed, Barnesville, MN and Bob (Fiancé' Becky DeJong) Kozojed, Mayville, ND; grandchildren, Amy (Noel) Morast, Dilworth, MN, Adam (Jackie) Kozojed, Barnesville, MN , Jill (Patrick) Taylor, Barnesville, MN , Melissa (Adam) Sola, Gwinner, ND and Katrina (Fiancé' Brice Welch) Kozojed, Grand Forks, ND; great grandchildren, Alec, Daria, Madison, Glori, Ellen, Ann and Preston; sister, Joyce (Ray) Lhotka, Silver Lake, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen in 2005 and by his daughter-in-law, Mona Kozojed in 2009. There will be a visitation 5 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 3, 2014 with prayer service following at 7:00 PM at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel , Mayville, ND. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND with a visitation one hour before the Mass. Burial and Military Honors will be in Calvary Cemetery of Grand Forks at a later date.
