Sandra "Sandy" Orton

Sandra "Sandy" K. Orton, 62, of Grand Forks, ND died Thursday, April 3, 2014 in her home. Sandra Kay DeVold was born on May 13, 1951 in Mayville, ND the daughter of Lawrence and Helen (Berg) DeVold. She grew up and attended school in the Buxton/Mayville area. She married George "Buddy" Orton on June 10, 1969. Sandy worked for many area farmers for the seasonal potato harvest. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing bingo and shopping at thrift stores. She will be missed. Sandy is survived by her son, John (Jennifer) Orton; daughters, Tammy (Leslie) Barth and GeorgeAnn "Tuba" (Jesse) Martinson; brothers, Glenn ,Sr. (Carol) DeVold, Harlan ,Sr. DeVold; sisters, Marjorie Dawson and LaVonne (Gilbert) Schwartz; grandchildren, Joshua, Jayson, Travis, Justin, Matthew, Heather, Tyler, Damion and Evanna Jo.; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George "Buddy" Orton; her parents; sisters, Donna and Ina; brothers, Gary, Clayton and Dennis; two grandchildren, Baby Dean Willson and John Orton, Jr. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, 1616 S. 17th St, Grand Forks. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7PM in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Interment will take place at the Americus Cemetery, Reynolds, ND in the spring.
