Larry G. Benjamin, 64, Glenwood, MN, formerly of Grand Forks, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Larry was born February 27, 1950 in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Leo and Mary (Cameron) Benjamin. He attended school in Minot then moved to Grand Forks where he graduated from Red River in 1968. Larry was united in marriage to Kathy Anderson on June 19, 1976 at University Lutheran Church. In 1973, Larry went to work for Northwestern Bell. He worked for the phone company for 30 years, retiring in 2003. He also served on the Telco Credit Union Board for a number of years and served on many bowling associations having many duties through the years. Larry was an avid bowler and in 2000, he was inducted into the Greater Grand Forks Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He also loved to golf, play cards, work with his wife in the yard, and he was a huge Boston Red Sox fan. Larry enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, and his Boston Terriers Freckle McGee and Bosley. Larry is survived by his loving wife Kathy, sons; Matthew (Christie) Benjamin, Joe (Theresa) Benjamin, Alan (Suzie) Benjamin, grandchildren; Zach, Sam, Ethan, Micah, Natalie, "other son" Chris Girodat, "other daughter" Kristy McGoven, sister Marcella Benjamin, and brother Gary (Judie) Benjamin, and several neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial service will be held Friday April 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service in the funeral home.
