Darold Puppe

Darold W. Puppe, 70, Crookston, Minnesota and formerly of Grand Forks, North Dakota died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at home. Darold W. Puppe was born to Walter and Myrtle (Hall) Puppe on August 24, 1943 at Bottineau, North Dakota. He attended school at Gardena, North Dakota and moved with his family to Minot, North Dakota where he continued his education. The family later moved to Grand Forks where Darold was employed by the local labor union. Darold moved to San Francisco, California, but soon after was drafted into military service. He served his country in the US Army, stationed primarily in Germany. Upon his discharge from the military he returned to Grand Forks where he again worked for the labor union. Darold Puppe and Lynn Longmuir were united in marriage on October 23, 1971 in Grand Forks. They lived in Grand Forks where Darold was employed by the City of Grand Forks Sanitation Department until an injury in 1992 forced an early retirement. Darold and Lynn moved to Maple Lake on August 30, 1995 and to Crookston, Minnesota on August 30, 2013. Darold was a meticulous person and will be remembered for the way that his yard and flower gardens were kept and how clean he kept his car. He is survived by his wife, Lynn, Crookston, MN; sons, James Maunz, Red Lake Falls, MN, Mark Maunz, Thief River Falls, MN, and John (Brenda) Maunz, Red Lake Falls, MN; 6 grandsons, 2 granddaughters; 1 great grandson, and 2 great granddaughters; brothers, Rodney (Nancy) Puppe, Phoenix, AZ, Tom (Linda) Puppe, Mekinock, ND, and Jim (Mae) Puppe, Grand Forks, ND; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen Graba and Marilyn Bullinger Kouba; brothers, Donald, Vernon, Jerry; and an infant brother, Norman. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service all in the funeral home. Military Honors will be presented by Grand Forks VFW Post #1874. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery later in the Spring.
