Mitchell Gunderson

Mitchell A. Gunderson, 52, of Grand Forks, ND died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Mitchell was born September 16, 1961 in Grand Forks, the son of Orville and MaryAnn (Sundby) Gunderson. He attended school in Grand Forks. Mitch worked as a Maintenance Mechanic for JR Simplot before becoming disabled due to a work injury in 2000. Our Dad's greatest pride in life were his grandchildren. Some of the other things he loved were collecting Earnhardt memorabilia, kicking back at the lake, tinkering in the garage on odd projects, giving a helping hand, and always having to have the last laugh with a good practical joke. Mitchell is survived by Sons, Rick (Jaimie) Gunderson, Buxton, ND, and Matthew (Ashley) Gunderson, Grand Forks, ND; Daughters, Tracy (Chris) Sorvig, Grand Forks, ND, and Samantha Gunderson, East Grand Forks, MN; Sisters, Marchelle (Larry) Thompson, Romona, CA, Marlene Gunderson, Grafton, ND, and Marla (Brad) Anderson, Grand Forks, ND; Grandchildren, Lucas, Dylan, Skadi, Abbagaile, Christian, Brooklyn, Libby, Emily, Levi and Reagan(still cooking) Mitchell was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; brother, Michael; nephew, William Thompson; niece, Amanda Boulduc; and several aunts and uncles. Funeral Services will be 2:30 PM Sunday, April 13, 2014 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery of Grand Forks in the late spring.
