Patricia Flaagan

Patricia Flaagan, 76, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Patricia Ann Elsaas was born to Sam and Edythe (Gray) Elsaas on December 31, 1937 at McVille, North Dakota. She attended school at Pekin, North Dakota and graduated from Pekin High School. Patricia Elsaas and Jerome Flaagan were united in marriage on September 25, 1955 at Pekin Lutheran Church, Pekin, North Dakota. They moved with their family to Grand Forks in 1966. She attended UND from 1966 until she graduated in 1969. She later earned a Master's Degree in English at UND . Patricia was employed as a media specialist for the Grand Forks School District, working at Twining School and later at Valley Middle School until she retired in 1999. She continued to work as a substitute following her retirement. Patricia was an active member of University Lutheran Church, attended bible studies there for many years and was President of the 55 and Over Club. She was also active in the local Thrivent Chapter, and enjoyed painting and gardening. She is survived by her husband, Jerome, Grand Forks; children, Mark (Lea Ann) Flaagan, West Fargo, ND, Julie (Dennis) Justice, Mesa, AZ, Paul Flaagan, Grand Forks, Dennis (Jayne) Flaagan, East Grand Forks, MN, and John (Holly) Flaagan, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Heather, Stephanie, Alison, Samuel, Seth, Carly, Lucas and Jack; sisters, Diane (Don) Hoveskeland, Tolna, ND and Sue (Larry) Keating, Mesa, AZ; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Nellie. Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 in University Lutheran Church, 2122 University Ave., Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. with a 7:45 p.m. Prayer Service Sunday, April 13 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks and for one hour prior to the service in the church. The family prefers memorials to University Lutheran Church.
