Thelma Sylvia Schroeder, 97, beloved mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, entered into eternal life on Friday, May 16, 2014 at her daughter Darlene's home in East Grand Forks, MN, surrounded by her loving family. Thelma was born November 20, 1916, in Merrifield, ND, the daughter of Gust & Theone (Anderson) Gunderson. She attended country school through the 8th grade. Thelma was employed at the Cox's Bakery and Pillsbury Co. until her retirement in 1981. She lived a happy and fulfilling life. Some of the things she enjoyed were playing bingo, dancing, and spending time with family and visiting all the local thrift stores. Thelma is survived by her children, Betty Becker of Grand Forks, Ed (Carol) Schroeder of Circle Pines, MN, Carolyn Norman of East Grand Forks, MN, Lawrence (Lynn) Schroeder of Long Beach, CA, Darlene Schroeder of East Grand Forks, MN; brother, Vernon Gunderson of Columbia Heights, MN; daughter-in-law, Jan Hangsleben of East Grand Forks, MN; and 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Wilbert Hangsleben & Carl Schroeder; son, Benjamin Hangsleben; daughters, Shirley Becker and Carol Schroeder; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. A special thanks to Jade Schroeder, Shannon Beaton, Jan Hangsleben, along with Judy, Abbie and Jana from the Hospice of the Red River Valley. Thelma was known by many as "Silver" but to her family she was Pure Gold! **In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20th at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND 58201. VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7pm prayer service Monday, May 19 at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue the hour prior to the service.
