Ellen G. Fish

Ellen G. Fish, 68, of Grand Forks, ND died Friday, May 23, 2014 in her home. Ellen Gladys Fish was born on January 21, 1946 in Fordville, ND, the daughter of John and Gladys (Lansing) Novak. She grew up and attended school in Fordville. After graduating from high school she attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks. She married Roger Fish on October 28, 1967 in Grafton, ND. Ellen was involved with the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in the state of Minnesota. Over the years she held many local and state offices, and was inducted into the Minnesota State Auxiliary Hall of Fame in 1998. The Eagles was a big part of both Ellen and Roger's lives and they made many lifelong friendships. They enjoyed traveling to many state and national conventions over the years. Her pride and joy were her granddaughters Britni, Kendra, and Taylor Hart and Lilliana and Gabriella Fish. Watching them in all their activities from dance recitals to playing a variety of sports brought a smile to her face. She treasured any time spent with the girls including vacationing in Florida or just a weekend at the lake. She was hands on when it came to teaching them how to make their favorite recipes. In addition, Ellen would never say no to a board game or a game of cards with the girls. Ellen is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Darin) Hart of Grand Forks; son, Scott (DeAnn) Fish, Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Evelyn (Allen) Close, Aitkin, MN and Kaye (Gary) Swartz, Fordville, ND; grandchildren Britni, Kendra and Taylor Hart; Lilly and Gabby Fish. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Roger who passed away on Dec. 13, 2011. Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 1:30PM in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7PM in St. Michael's Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery North, Grand Forks.
