Paul Henry Riley was born August 16, 1936 to Millard and Alma Riley in Bemidji, MN. Paul passed away May 29, 2014 at the age of 77. He suffered from COPD, a respiratory disease that began as asthma during his childhood. After graduating from Bemidji High School, he served in the Air Force from 1956-60. After discharge from the Air Force he worked for the Northern Pacific Railway as a radio dispatcher for 9 years. In 1964 he married Jan Alwin. In 1969 he began work as a radio operator for the U.S. Border Patrol, Grand Forks Sector Headquarters. He worked there for 38.5 years until retiring in 2008. Combined with 3 years in the Air Force, he earned 41.5 years of civil service. Paul loved to fish and many times took his two sons, Steven and Wayne, to Montana and Minnesota on fishing trips. Paul also enjoyed watching Westerns on television. Paul is survived by his wife, Jan, two sons, Steven (Valerie) and Wayne (Maureen), four fabulous grandchildren, Carson, Collin, Jillian, and Luke, two sisters, Dorothy and Lila, and four brothers, Herb, Wally, Ken, and Jim. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harry and Don. FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND.
