Anna B. Oliva

Anna Belia Oliva , 55, Grand Forks, ND passed away Thursday May 29th, 2014 after a short illness. Anna Oliva was born March 12, 1959 in Weslaco, Texas, the daughter of Guadalupe and Albino Oliva She was raised and educated in East Grand Forks, MN, graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1978. She would later move to Grand Forks and study accounting at Aakers Buisness College and later at Northland Technical College. Anna was employed at Gramma Butterwicks Restaurant and could regularly be found playing Bingo, one of her all time favorite hobbies. Although Anna had no children of her own, she loved to be around her large extended family and could often be found sneaking candy to her nieces and nephews. She loved to go out for coffee and cook meals for the family. Anna will be remembered for her kind heart, her giggle and teasing nature, and strong belief in family. Anna is survived by her sisters Yolanda (Ken) Price and Sandra (John) Fettig-Oliva; brothers Mario Oliva, Oscar Oliva, and Jose Oliva, all of Grand Forks, ND. She will also be lovingly remembered by her nieces Jackie (Jeremy) Hoffarth, Jennifer (David) Rodriguez, Carol (Justin) Bjarnason, Megan Price, Desiree Price, Nicole Price, and Emily (Rachal) Pender; her nephews Robert (Jessica) Freestone, Brendan (Meghan) Pender, Joseph Freestone, and Kenny Price; as well as their children and many other family and friends. Anna was preceded in death by her parents and nephew James Freestone. Please join us in the celebration of Anna's life. Family encourages those in attendance to wear something purple, Anna's favorite color. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks.
