Elsie L. Glinski

Elsie L. Glinski, 97, Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Elsie Louise Olson was born at the family homestead near Alvarado, MN on October 31, 1916, a daughter of Emil and Emma (Berg) Olson, both Swedish immigrants. She was the third youngest child of eleven siblings. Elsie graduated from Alvarado High School in 1934. On October 31, 1935, she married Theodore "Ted" Glinski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Minto, ND. They moved to Grand Forks in 1950. Her beloved husband, Ted, died in November of 1984. Elsie was a life-long homemaker dedicated to her family. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks for 64 years and belonged to the Altar Society. She was an avid reader and enjoyed baking, sewing and gardening. Elsie had a great sense of humor, often remarking with a twinkle in her eye that she was born on Halloween. She was a woman of faith, grace and quiet dignity, and bore her final illnesses with great patience. Survivors are her three children, James Glinski, Fargo, ND, Patricia Shannon, Denver, Co and Robert Glinski, Grand Forks; five grandchildren, Colleen (Mark) Shannon-Paterson of London, England, Erin (Michael) McCauley, Denver, CO, Kathleen (Jacob) Shannon-Stern, Denver, CO, Ryan (Donna) Shannon, Denver, CO and Victoria Bohlbecker of Edgewater, MD; and seven great-grandchildren. Elsie was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Magnus, Walfred, Albin, Edith, Ruth, Selma, Dagny, Paul, Bernice and Elvira. Even though mom had a heart of gold, her heart gave out- she was still there whenever you needed her, right to the end. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in St. Mary's Catholic Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 4:30 PM Rosary service and a 7:00 PM Wake Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the Funeral Mass at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks.
