Evan Daniel Poitra

Evan D. Poitra, 19, of Grand Forks, passed away on July 16th at his home in Grand Forks. Evan Daniel Poitra was born October 31, 1994, the son of Wayne Douglas Poitra Jr. & Jacqueline Rae (Nerpel) Poitra in Minot, ND. Evan attended schools at Century School, Viking School, Prairie Voyager School, and Riverside Christian School, East Grand Forks, South Middle School, and graduated from Red River High School in 2013. He was a member of the GF Seventh-day Adventist Church and worked as a Laborer for Tony Anderson Construction. Evan enjoyed sports, in particular playing high school football at Red River and playing on a recreational hockey league for several years. He also loved his Vikings! He was very artistically inclined and loved to draw. Spending time with friends meant the world to Evan and he was always ready with a welcome smile and a big hug for everyone. Evan was involved in youth group activities through his church and spent a week every summer at Bible Camp. Evan will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, but especially by his twin brother Derek. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Wayne Poitra Sr., and paternal grandmother, Linda Bjugstad. He was survived by his parents, Wayne and Jackie Poitra (Grand Forks); brother Ryan (Madison, WI), twin brother, Derek Poitra (Grand Forks), brother Seth (Belcourt, ND); and maternal grandparents, Mike and Marian Nerpel (Dunseith), and special friend, Carli Norton (East Grand Forks). FUNERAL SERVICES: 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19th at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND 58201. VISITATION: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a 7p.m. prayer service on Friday, July 18 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND 58201. Visitation will continue the hour prior to the service. INTERMENT: 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 21 at Riverside Cemetery, Dunseith, ND.
